Whispering gallery mode-based magnetometer

Abstract

We demonstrate a compact all-optical magnetic sensor based on whispering gallery modes in a photonic crystal fiber infiltrated with ferrofluid. We achieve a sensitivity of ~0.18 pm/µT and a resolution of ~222 nT.
