Glass-clad Ti:sapphire crystal fiber laser

Abstract

Glass-clad Ti:sapphire crystal fibers were grown using the co-drawing laser-heated pedestal growth method. A laser threshold of less than 100 mW was achieved at room temperature with an a-cut-core diameter as small as 18 μm.
