3% Thermal Load Measured in Tandem-pumped Ytterbium-doped Fiber Amplifier

Abstract

A tandem-pumped Yb-doped fiber with a quantum defect of 2% generates 3% of heat. We believe this is a record-low thermal load and the first calorimetric measurement of the heat from a fiber core.
