Enhanced modulation performance by cascaded uncoupled dual-ring

Abstract

We demonstrate enhanced modulation speed by using serial uncoupled microring modulators. By reducing photon lifetime of two rings, the extinction ratio of eye diagram increases from 5.9 dB to 7.1 dB at 20 Gbps.
