Shining Light on the Brain: Optogenetic Dissection of the Cortical Circuits of Vision

Abstract

By optogenetically dissecting the neural circuits of vision we reveal a fundamental circuit that mediates lateral inhibition in the cortex to sharpen the spatial representation of sensory objects in the external world.
