Highly efficient THz pulse generation from optical rectification in cryogenically cooled lithium niobate

Abstract

We demonstrate high optical-to-THz conversion efficiency of 3.8% by optical rectification in cryogenically-cooled lithium niobate using near-optimum 680 fs, 1.2 mJ pump pulses centered at 1 µm. Spatial and temporal characterization will be presented.
