Silicon-on-Insulator Polarization Splitter-Rotator Based on TM0-TE1 Mode Conversion in a Bi-level Taper

Abstract

The first demonstration of a silicon-on-insulator polarization splitter-rotator using TM0-TE1 mode conversion in a bi-level taper is reported. The device was fabricated in a foundry process and exhibits a polarization crosstalk < -13 dB.
