Low-Voltage Integrated Broadband Hybrid VO2-Surface Plasmon Polariton Switches

Abstract

The metal-insulator phase transition of vanadium dioxide is used for efficient plasmonic switches. We report on 5-15μm long devices with bandwidths >100nm near λ=1550nm and extinction ratios of 10–25dB with applied voltages of 400mV.
