Abstract

We show that optimum designs of optical parametric oscillators require different pump and signal/idler coupling, suggesting novel microphotonic geometries. Normalized models with linear/nonlinear loss show that Si can oscillate at 1550nm below certain free-carrier-to-cavity-photon-lifetime ratios.
