Demonstration of Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering in Purely Dielectric Structures via Bloch Surface Waves

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate surface-enhanced Raman scattering in fully dielectric structures supporting Bloch surface waves. These results suggest an alternative to plasmonic materials for enhancing the light-matter interaction at a surface with application in optical sensing.
