Engineering Optical Bistability in Silicon Ring Resonators

Abstract

We demonstrate an atypical reverse optical bistability (blue shift of the resonance) in designed silicon ring resonators by compensating the thermo-optic red shift with a strong free carrier dispersion blue shift.
