Active Coherent Combination of >200 Semiconductor Amplifiers using a SPGD Algorithm*

Abstract

We have demonstrated active coherent beam combination of 218 individually-addressable semiconductor amplifiers with 38.5W CW output. Phase actuation was achieved by adjusting the drive current and controlled using a stochastic-parallel-gradient-descent algorithm.
