Temporal contrast improvement of femtosecond pulses by a self-diffraction process in a Kerr bulk medium

Abstract

We improved the temporal contrast of a femtosecond pulse by more than four orders magnitude of its incident pulse using self-diffraction process in a 0.5-mm-thick glass plate. The energy transform efficiency is about 12%.
