Second and Third-Order Nonlinear Optical Effects in ZnO Channel Waveguides

Abstract

We demonstrate simultaneous self-phase modulation and second harmonic generation in ZnO channel waveguides. We estimate a value of γ = 13.9 ± 3.0 W−1m−1, indicating that ZnO offers promise as a platform for nonlinear devices.
