Precision Calculation of Blackbody Radiation Shifts for Metrology at the 18th Decimal Place

Abstract

We present a new approach for accurate calculation of atomic polarizabilities, apply it to evaluate BBR shifts in optical clock transitions in Al+, B+ and In+, and find uncertainties below 10−18 in some cases.
