Suppression of Transverse Mode Instability in Ring-core Fiber

Abstract

We theoretically investigate transverse mode instability (TMI) in ytterbium doped ringcore fiber. The unique geometry reduces thermal load and enhances gain saturation effect, leading to large suppression of TMI. Gaussian-like beam is formed at far-field.
