Abstract

A fractured planar photonic crystal microcavity is designed to be mechanically tunable while maintaing a quality factor of >1 × 105, and a mode volume ~0.3(λ/n)3. Its optomechanical coefficient is ~15 GHz/nm, at mid-IR wavelengths.
