Self-channeling of Terawatt-power CO2 laser Pulses in Air

Abstract

We report the first observation of Kerr self-focusing of 3 ps TW CO2 laser pulses in atmosphere. A centimeter diameter, 30m long, 10-μm light channel containing a few Joules of energy is generated and characterized.
