Opto-Thermophoretic Trapping in Simple Polar Liquids

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate opto-thermophoretic trapping of particles in several simple polar liquids with a dominant interfacial-entropy-driven force, which is determined by the surface chemistry of the particles and physical properties of the solvents.
