Deep penetration of light through suspensions of red blood cells

Abstract

We demonstrate nonlinear self-trapping of a light beam in human red blood cell suspensions with varying liquid buffer concentrations, along with a numerical model that features an effective nonlocal nonlinearity to explain our experimental observations.
