Boundaries of practicability for integrated Stimulated Brillouin scattering devices

Abstract

We present a theoretical framework for the design of silicon-photonics devices harnessing Stimulated Brillouin Scattering. We discuss the interplay and trade-off between opto-acoustic coupling, finite-size effects, nonlinear loss and fabrication tolerances.
