Abstract

We proposed and experimentally demonstrated a mechanism to achieve spectrally-selective metallic emitters based on tunneling effect. This effect allows a simple flat metal film to achieve near-unity emissivity with controlled spectral selectivity for efficient heat-to-light energy conversion.
