Surface Plasmonic Array Sensors (SPlAS): From Color Sensing to Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract

A periodic arrangement of gold crescents is shown to have very high Raman scattering enhancement factors, ~2×106, as well as structural color generation properties. This opens up the possibly for a two-level sensing platform which could be tailored for a wide variety of applications.
