Abstract

Optical properties required for the design of a solar pumped fiber laser were evaluated for Er3+-fluoride glass. The quantum efficiency of the emission band at 1530 nm was about 35 %. The product of the stimulated emission cross-section and the emission lifetime σst τf was about 46 × 10−24 cm2·s.
