Back-Action of Continuum on Solitons and the Resulting Energy Oscillations in a Mode-Locked Laser

Abstract

We describe a resonant phenomenon that exists in all mode-locked lasers with non-negligible anomalous chromatic dispersion and self-phase modulation. Numerical simulation and experiment are also performed, and good agreement with the analytic results was found.
