Dynamic Tuning of Surface Plasmon Polaritons via Thermally Controlled Liquid Crystals

Abstract

We present a thermally controlled plasmonic substrate in contact with a liquid crystal offering spectral tunings ~18.7 nm within ~18°C at LC nematic phase. Nematic/isotropic transition also enables ~12 nm spectral change only within ~1°C.
