Blue shift of spontaneous emission in hyperbolic metamaterial

Abstract

We have observed sizable blue shifts in spontaneous emission of DCM and R6G dyes embedded into lamellar metamaterials with hyperbolic dispersion. The effect is explained by dispersion of the density of photonic states.
