Photonic Crystal Formation On Tapered Optical Nanofibers Using Femtosecond Laser Ablation Technique

Abstract

We demonstrate that thousands of periodic nano-craters are fabricated on a tapered optical nanofiber, by irradiating just a single femtosecond laser pulse. Such periodic nano-craters on the nanofiber, act as a 1-D photonic crystal.
