Second Harmonic Generation in Transition Metamaterials

Abstract

We show that resonant field enhancement of obliquely incident light in a quadratically nonlinear metamaterial with refractive index gradually changing from positive to negative values enables efficient second harmonic generation at significantly reduced input intensities.
