Abstract
During blood flow/perfusion measurement of biological tissues by laser speckle contrast analysis (LASCA) dominantly the average flow rate (speckle contrast perfusion unit - SCPU) is measured within a given region, detailed analysis of the histogram obtainable from the pixels of the flow map is rarely performed, however its analysis can give new relevant information [1,2], e.g. comparison of rosacea and healthy skin. Due to the relatively high penetration depth of the light in the tissue and the multiple scattering, even for high resolution optics the speed information of one pixel in the speed distribution map is usually an averaged value from a much larger volume which can include tissue domains of different flow rate. The motivation of our work is to study the averaging effect of multiple scattering in a mixture of particles having well distinguishable velocity distributions.
