Laser-based Gas Sensing of Multiple Samples using Multiplexing in Radio Frequency Domain

Abstract

Laser spectroscopy is a valuable tool in chemical analysis. Analyzing more than one sample is desired (or even required) in many gas sensing applications, e.g. in isotopic ratiometery or gas leak detection. In typical implementations multiple samples are measured with multiple sources and/or detectors or using opto-mechanical switches. Here we present a new approach to gas detection of multiple samples that relies on multiplexing spectroscopic signals in the radio frequency (RF) domain. Therefore, it does not require multiple sensing channels or opto-mechanical switching.
