Abstract
Passively mode-locked quantum dot (QD) lasers are promising candidates for photonic generators of stable optical pulse trains with picosecond short optical pulses. Timing noise however influences the pulse train timing stability. Therefore, a variety of experimental concepts have been developed to reduce the timing jitter (TJ). Optical feedback (OFB) by a single auxiliary optical external cavity (EC) is an effective tool [1]. Yet, unwanted noise peaks in the side-bands around the mode-locked repetition rate (RR) are induced. Recently, dual OFB with fine-tunable EC lengths had been studied experimentally and by an extended delay differential equation (DDE) model [2] for cavity lengths up to 3 m.
