Abstract
In the quest for applicable quantum optics, integrated optics offer a multitude of possibilities for the generation and interfacing of quantum states. In particular, the integration of photonic quantum state sources with linear elements on chip remains an interesting challenge. Recently, this was achieved independently by two groups [1,2]. While their approach eliminates the incoupling losses into the linear network, it requires a well defined and stable pump phase, as well as narrowband filtering to achieve indistinguishable photons. In the experiment, these requirements still introduce high losses, decreasing possible information carriers. Integrating the state creation into the linear element additionally offers many possiblities [3–5], as it opens the door to new dynamics [6] which are not available in conventional devices.
