Abstract

Streak tube imaging lidar (STIL) offers high range accuracy, wide range gate and high frame rate [1]. The range accuracy is the most critical feature of STIL system which is an attractive technique for remote identification. Previously, the range accuracy of STIL only depended on the pulse-width of the laser and signal to noise ratio [2]. However, according to peak detection algorithm [3], range accuracy is also related to the width of static blurring signal which is the intensity profile of one CCD column (one time-resolved channel) while STIL works at static mode. In this work a static blurring signal compression method is proposed to improve range accuracy at kilometre-range distances.
