Abstract

Synthetic heat transfer fluids as thermal oils are becoming an essential tool in many applications as fiber manufacturing, concentrated solar power plants and biofuel manufacturing as they have a good thermal stability and low viscosity. However, to improve the competitiveness of these industries and reduce cost it is important to improve the thermal properties of these fluids. It has been demonstrated that by adding gold nanoparticles (NPs) fabricated by chemical methods, the thermal conductivity of the thermal oil increase by up to 6.5% [1]. In this context, we have recently proposed the fabrication of a nanofluid with a thermal oil as a base fluid by a clean method as pulsed laser ablation in liquids (PLAL) and the subsequent photo-fragmentation stage [2].
