Narrow peaks in a random laser at localization transition regime

Abstract

This paper reports the emergence of narrow peaks in the emission spectrum of a random laser (RL) at the localization transition regime. RL is composed by a colloidal suspension (CS) of core-shell (TiO2@Silica) nanoparticles (NPs) in an ethanol solution of R6G. This kind of peaks was firstly reported in a solid powder of ZnO nanoparticles. [1] Anderson localization of light [2] and a wide variety of associated phenomena have greatly attracted the attention of researchers in the past decades. The localization or localization transition regimes are extremely difficult to be obtained, especially in a CS. Particles in a suspension tend to agglomerate and precipitate, which causes a decrease in scattering strength. Localization transition was previously demonstrated in our system (TiO2@Silica suspension) by several approaches. [3]
