Abstract
Visible lasers are widely applied for medical, scientific, and industrial field, however, we can see few primary visible solid-state lasers. Rare-earth elenments, especially Pr and Dy, doped crystals, glasses and optical fibers have been attractive and promising material for visible laser light generation. As increasing the GaN laser diode power, the power and efficiency of primary visible solid-state lasers became more and more. In recent years, the power of primary visible solid-state laser reaches over 1-W with Pr doped crystals and optical fibers, and we also reported W-class visible fiber laser with Pr-doped waterproof fluoride glass fiber (Pr :WPFGF), and like this, Pr-doped visible solid-state lasers are becoming popular [1]. The next target is considered to get more powerful and higher intensity laser with pulsed operation, especialy in a femtosecond region. We already demonstrated orange ns pulse generation in Pr :WPFGF with a single-layer graphene [2]. In this paper, we show a demonstration of multicolor Q-switch pulse generation in Pr:WPFGF using graphene as a saturable absorber.
