Abstract
Dispersion-scan (d-scan) is a powerful technique for the measurement and compression of ultrashort laser pulses [1]. The standard d-scan is of simple implementation and is based on a chirped mirror and glass wedge compressor, requiring only a 1-D spectrometer and the insertion of different amounts of glass, usually achieved with a motorised translation stage. By measuring the spectrum of a nonlinear signal (such as second-harmonic generation, SHG) for different glass insertions (input phases) around the point of maximum compression, a 2-D trace is obtained that enables retrieving the spectral phase of the pulses via an iterative algorithm [1].
