Monolithic 2D-QPM Frequency Domain OPA

Abstract

The concept of frequency domain amplification of ultrashort pulses has received renewed interest in recent years because of its promise for overcoming the trade-offs inherent in conventional OPA and OPCPA [1]. For example, the achievable bandwidth in the traditional approach is tied to the crystal damage threshold, which is in turn connected with the pump pulse duration. In contrast, in frequency-domain OPA (FOPA), the amplified beam has a spatial chirp in the Fourier-plane of a 4f pulse shaper, and there is a spatially inhomogeneous phase-matching condition designed to obtain a small phase mismatch across the whole spectrum.
