Abstract
Lasers in the wavelength range around 2 µm find wide application in the medical sector due to their strong absorption in water. In the wavelength range of 3 µm the absorption of water and tissue is even two orders of magnitude higher [1]. The resulting lower penetration depth may enable more precise laser surgery.
