Abstract

Cubic Y2O3 is a very promising laser host due to his very good thermal properties, low cut off phonon energy (380 cm−1) and the possibility rare earth ions doping. 0.4 at. % Nd:Y2O3 ceramics were fabricated using transparent ceramic technology with diameter of 5 mm and two different thicknesses (l= 4 and 8 mm). The ceramics samples were both AR coated at 946 nm (Fig. 1).
