Abstract

High-power mid-infrared (mid-IR) femtosecond sources in 6-7 µm wavelength range, covering the molecular fingerprint region, are of great interest for a variety of applications including sensitive detection of gas and liquid phase chemical species [1]. In the absence of widely available solid-state laser gain media, ultrafast optical parametric oscillators (OPO) based on the new nonlinear material, cadmium silicon phosphide, CdSiP2 (CSP), which can be pumped using well-established femtosecond solid-state laser technology at ~1 µm, are promising candidates for mid-IR generation [2-4].
