Abstract

The bismuth-doped fibres are a new type of active medium for high-power NIR fibre lasers within a spectral range 1140 – 1550 nm. CW Bi-doped fibre lasers at 1160, 1270, and 1330 nm with output power ~10 W were demonstrated earlier [1-3]. At longer wavelengths 1400-1500 nm the output power achieved so far has not exceeded 2 W [2]. The purpose of this paper was to create a powerful bismuth fibre laser operating near 1460 nm.
