Abstract

Significant advance of colloidal chemistry in the last years has enabled the production of colloidal nanoparticles with advantageous optical, electronic and magnetic properties specifically tailored to particular applications. The next challenge on the way towards new the production of nanoscale devices profiting on these properties is the integration and arrangement of colloidal nanoparticles onto surfaces with a precision of a few nanometers for their further incorporation into complex device architectures. A number of lithographical methods have been reported in literature for the arrangement of nanoparticles on substrates. However, these methods typically based on the multistep chemical pre-patterning of the substrate surface.
