Abstract
We present results from a stabilized, synchronously-pumped ultrafast optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on the novel combination of a relay-imaged extended cavity, cavity-dumping and active cavity-length stabilization. Chirp-free pulses with energies of 650 nJ (almost twice the previous maximum [1]) and 410-fs durations were obtained at a wavelength of 1.54 µm, and dumping frequencies from 100 kHz to 4 MHz.
