Abstract

Recent progress in the technology of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) has made possible wide use of these lasers in fiber-optical communication systems, optical input/output devices, transducers and sensors. However, further optimization of VCSEL parameters including increase of lasing efficiency and improvement of dynamic characteristics is demanded by most of the applications mentioned above.
