Abstract

For the trivalent rare-earth Eu3+ ion, the visible stimulated emission has been demonstrated for the first time in 1963 with at low temperatures [1,2]. Later, a number of liquid, solid-state dielectric and semiconductor hosts were doped with Eu3+ ions and room temperature lasing was obtained (e.g. [3]). However, all demonstrations of Eu3+-lasers belong to the case of the most intense 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions at near 610 nm.
