Abstract

Several methods have been proposed so far to optically multiply the repetition rate of pulsed laser sources by spectral filtering using uniform Bragg gratings or Fabry-Perot filters [1, 2]. In this communication, we show optical clock generation at 170 GHz using a multi-line tunable notch filter, created by thermally induced phase-shifts on a chirped fibre Bragg grating (CFBG), coupled to Quantum dash Fabry-Perot actively mode locked laser (QD-FP-MLLD) fabricated at III-V Lab [3]. The CFBG is placed on a chromium line pattern and, when an appropriate current is applied, narrow transmission bands appear at desired frequencies. The QD-FP-MLLD was actively locked through an optically-injected signal, modulated at 42.5 GHz by a LiNbO3 modulator.
