Abstract
SPASER was proposed as a quantum generator of coherent ultrafast and intense optical fields localized on the nanoscale [1], see also [2]. SPASER is a missing active device in nanoplasmonics, greatly needed to build nanoplasmonic circuits. It will allow compensation of losses, active modulators, logical elements and ultrafast memory elements. Recently, there has been a great interest and progress in both understanding fundamentals of SPASER and demonstrating a working device. We will present recent results showing generation kinetics and switching in SPASER.
