Two-finesse Fabry-Perot interferometer for probing intracavity lossy samples

Abstract

Intracavity measurements of small optical phase shifts benefit from the high sensitivity of multiwave interferometry [1]. For example, measurements of liquid film thicknesses have been demonstrated in the nanometer range [2]. However, losses inherent to the sample lower significantly the cavity finesse, thus reducing the cavity enhancement effect.
